June 28, 2001, FORT WORTH, Texas - American Airlines announced today that its award-winning website, AA.com, has experienced record visitation and usage. Citing an aggressive campaign of Internet fare sales being offered to the traveling public, AA.com has recently received more than three-quarters of a million daily visits -- a 165 percent increase compared with the same time last year.
"We're extremely excited about the record-setting performance of AA.com," said John Samuel, American's vice-president of customer technology. "It shows our efforts to provide our online customers a user-friendly environment to access the very best fares and service, are working."
AA.com began promoting Internet fare sales in November 1998, rapidly building a loyal base of online customers. The great sale fares currently offered through AA.com are for travel to selected destinations in the U.S., Canada, Caribbean, Latin America, Mexico and Europe.
